PS169Q Bay Terrace School / School Construction Authority
Located in the Bayside neighborhood of Queens, PS169Q serves as a main elementary school for the surrounding area with nearly 450 students in the current facility.
The 70,000-sf (6,500-sm), 6-story academic facility addition will contain an all new cafeteria, library, classrooms, science labs, an art room, music room and nurse station.
With a foundation set upon over 335 micropiles, the concrete superstructure will be wrapped in a precast envelope and hollow metal store fronts. Aluminum windows complete the facade. Rooftop units (RTUs), utilizing a glycol based Variable Air Volume system (VAVs), in combination with hydronic condensing boilers, will supply the addition with cooling and heating. Independent utilities were designed, including gas and electrical supplies, and fire alarm and sprinkle systems. This new addition will be turned over completely furnished with furniture, classroom equipment and facilities.
